About Me

Oksana Perets

I was born and raised in Ukraine, and my adventurous spirit brought me to Canada over a decade ago for my graduate studies. Growing up in post-Soviet Ukraine shaped my sensitivity to social justice issues and anti-oppressive and non-normative counselling practice.

Some other life experiences that shaped me are motherhood, travelling, moving to another country and pursuing ongoing education as a lifelong learner. In addition to my Master of Counselling Psychology (City University), I also have a Master’s degree in Translation Studies (University of Alberta). While I offer my services in English and Ukrainian, I have enjoyed learning German, Polish, Spanish and French, which has opened my mind to different ways of being human.

Services I Offer

My counselling approach is culturally sensitive, collaborative and relational, focusing on the uniqueness of each client’s inner world. I use narrative and person-centred approaches, honouring that you are the expert in your life. I meet my clients with warmth, respect and curiosity, whether they gravitate towards traditional lifestyles or queer ways of being or find themselves in spaces in between.

I specialize in intergenerational trauma and women’s mental health. Some other topics that I work with include:

  • life transitions
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • stress
  • loss & grief
  • body image concerns

I offer individual counselling sessions for $140 per 60 minutes. If session fees are a barrier, please get in touch with me to discuss what sliding scale options are available right now. I offer free 20-minute initial consultations to answer your questions and get to know each other.

I acknowledge with deep respect the lands on which I live and work belong to the Lekwungen-speaking peoples and the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations.
