About Me

Oksana Perets

I was born and raised in Ukraine, and my adventurous spirit led me to Canada over a decade ago for my graduate studies. Growing up in post-Soviet Ukraine shaped my sensitivity to social justice issues and influenced my anti-oppressive, non-normative counselling practice. I value the freedom of self-expression and the courage to live authentically and creatively. I approach my clients with warmth, respect, and curiosity, regardless of whether they gravitate towards traditional lifestyles, queer ways of being, or find themselves in spaces in between.

My diverse life experiences have profoundly shaped my perspective and approach. As a life-long learner, I highly value growth and prioritize expanding and deepening my knowledge in the mental health field. In addition to my Master of Counselling Psychology, I also have a Master’s degree in Translation Studies. While I offer my services in English and Ukrainian, I have also enjoyed learning German, Polish, Spanish and French, which has opened my mind to different ways of being human.

Services I Offer

I offer a culturally sensitive, collaborative, and relational approach to counselling, recognizing and respecting the unique experiences and perspectives of each individual. My priority is to establish a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, fostering trust and open communication.

Using narrative and person-centered approaches, I honour an individual’s expertise in their own life. With my clients, we work together to define goals for our therapeutic journey and find the most effective and personalized ways to achieve them.

Some of the topics that I work with include:

  • social transitions
  • life cycles
  • maternal mental health
  • changing identity
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • trauma
  • loss & grief

I acknowledge with deep respect the lands on which I live and work belong to the Lekwungen-speaking peoples and the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations.
